NOTICE OF RACE
The
Olympic Garda 2003 Eurolymp (OGE) will be held from 22nd to
28th March 2003 on North Lake Garda Italy. The Olympic Garda 2003
Eurolymp is an ISAF Ranked Event and an Eurolymp Event.
2.
ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The
Organizing Authority is the Italian Sailing Federation, in conjunction with
Fraglia della Vela di Riva, Circolo Vela Torbole, and Fraglia Vela
Malcesine.
3.
DISCIPLINES/CLASSES
Mistral
OD Men Mistral OD Women Laser Open - Europe Women - Finn Men 49er Open -
470 Men - 470 Women Tornado Yngling Women Star.
4.
RULES
The
event will be governed by:

Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004, EUROLYMP Regulations, Class rules (except as
any of these are changed by this Notice of Race and the Sailing
Instructions),

The
ISAF Eligibility Code shall apply.
6.
ADVERTISING
The
ISAF Advertising Code shall apply.
Boats may be
required to display a bow number and advertising of the event sponsor on either
side on the forward 25% of the hull. Sailboards may be required to display such
number and advertising on either side of the sail above the wishbone.
The
720° Turns Penalty, RRS 44.2 (for Mistral as modified by Appendix B4.3) will
apply, except for Tornado and 49er for which the 720° turns is replaced by a
360° turn.

completed entry form should be received at the above mentioned entry address not
later than the 28th February 2003.
Any
entry received after the 28th Feb. 2003 will be subject to a 50% late
entry supplement.

11.1
Competitors and Team Leaders shall complete on-site registration from
Saturday 22nd at 9.00 hrs to Monday 24th March at 10.00

Sailing Instructions will be available at the moment of the registration.
12.
SAIL NUMBERS
Boats
shall use the approved Nationality Code Letters in their sails as required by
RRS. Competitors may be required to wear bibs (which will be provided by
Organising Authority). In alteration of their Class Rules, the nationality
letters on the sails shall apply for any class.
13.
MEASUREMENT
Before
definite entry: All sails must be measured prior to the event and authorized by
Class Rules and shall be stamped by the Measurement Committee.
14.
COURSES
There
will be 5 course areas as shown in the Sailing Instructions.
15.
COMPETITION FORMAT
The
competition Format has been developed in close consultation with other World Cup
Organisers and the ISAF and follows as close as possible the guidelines for
Olympic Games.
All
entered competitors will have the opportunity to sail until the last day of
racing.
First
warning signal of the first race: Monday 24th March at 12.00 hrs.

The
Low -Point Scoring System will apply.
17.
INTERNATIONAL JURY
An
International Jury will be appointed with the approval of the Italian Sailing
Federation.
The
decisions of the International Jury shall be final.
Appendix
N Immediate Penalties for Breaking Rule 42 shall apply.

19.
RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In
participating in the OGE
2003 a competitor automatically grants to the
Organising Authority and the sponsors of the OGE 2003, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time
to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film
television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the
competition for the said OGE 2003 in which the
competitor participates and in all material related to the said OGE 2003 without
compensation.
20.
SUPPORT BOATS
The
general use of motor boats on North Lake Garda is prohibited by law. For the
regatta it is necessary to have written permission from the organising club.
Teams and coaches who have a support boat shall go to the Secretary's office of
the club with identity card/passport, motor boat documents and insurance
documents, to obtain permission.
Each
support boat shall fly a flag with a number. These flags will be supplied to the
assigned boats by the Organising Authority. No other individual team supports
boats shall be used.
21.
PRIZE MONEY
21.1
The following prizes money will be awarded for 1st, 2nd
and 3rd overall places in each Olympic class, provided the
competitors (and not their representatives) will be present at the prize giving
ceremony to receive the prize (all in Euro):

Prize
Money will be awarded only to the classes that have a minimum of 20
entries.
21.2
Garda Trophy for the best MNA:
Each competitor will score points for
its MNA as follows: 1st place 15 pts, 2nd place 14 pts,
and so on.
The
MNA with the best score will receive the Garda Permanent Trophy and a special
prize money of
2.600,00. This prize will be awarded only if a representative of the winning MNA
will be attending the prize giving ceremony to receive it.
Competitors
will sail under their own risk. The Organizing Authority and all the race
Committees and the Jury decline any responsibility to person or goods, at sea or
ashore, in consequence of participation in the competition. The competitors
shall contract all insurances required to cover very risk, included that to a
third party.
